  • In association with the current “improvement” works at The Plain in central Oxford, St.Clements will be closed in two stages – one for each direction, as follows:

From Monday 19th January from 0630 – for two weeks until 1st February: St.Clements street closed eastbound between The Plain and Dawson Street – service 280 to divert eastbound [towards Aylesbury] via Cowley Road then fourth left into Jeune Street then right at the top back into St.Clements and normal route. Note the junction of Jeune Street and St.Clements will be controlled by temporary traffic lights, parking suspended in Jeune Street and the exit into St.Clements will be modified [work on this taking place today]. We will be un able to serve our stop at St.Clements and a temporary stop will be used instead, just forward of the current “second” stop used by the 4 and 13 services, so drivers should look out for confused passengers wanting the 280!

From Monday 2nd February to 15th February – for two weeks, St.Clements westbound towards Oxford Rail Station, will be closed between Dawson Street and The Plain – service 280 to turn left into Dawson Street and then right into Cowley Road and back onto The Plain and normal route. No bus stops affected. To enable this diversion, Dawson Street will be made one-way, parking suspended and some potted trees removed!

Should the first phase finish early and St.Clements eastbound re-open before 1st February then the second phase will NOT commence early – this will not happen before 2nd February I have been told.

After St.Clements re-opens, Cowley Road then Iffley Road will close and though this will not affect the 280 directly, increased traffic along St.Clements and dis-orientated motorists can be expected! The in April overnight resurfacing will take place over 2 to 3 weeks of the whole area – with various closures including the need for us to use Iffley Road and Cowley Road on certain nights but full details when we have confirmed dates.

  • Princes Risborough High Street and Duke Street are closed for the annual Christmas lights switch on – on Friday 5th December.

The closure is deemed to be from 15:00 for the rest of the day – however last year we had problems with the event being set up earlier in the day and I therefore suggest we do not use the High Street after midday.
