Friday, November 20th, 2009

The High Street, Bridge Street and Church Square in Leighton Buzzard will be closed on Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November 2009 for a Christmas Fair.

Therefore the following arrangements have been agreed to take place from first bus on the Friday until last bus on the Sunday:-

Services 32, 33, 34, 35 [LB Town Services]. These will terminate in Lake Street at the current bus stop with buses then to stand, changeover drivers and pick up just forward of the bus stop. Buses then to depart direct to Hockliffe Street and as normal.

Services 69,70,150 from Aylesbury/Milton Keynes/LB Rail Station – via West Street, Leesons Street, Lake Street and Hockliffe Street to pick up at normal stop in Hockliffe Street only. Drivers must use discretion at this stop as, due to the nature of the road layout, they may block the road to other traffic if waiting for time there once loading has been completed.

Services 69, 70, 150 to Aylesbury/Milton Keynes/LB Rail Station – into Lake Street as normal and observe normal bus stop and if early wait for time here. Then depart via Hockliffe Street, West Street, Leighton Road and normal route.

Drivers are asked to look out for and assist passengers not aware of where to catch their bus from. Drivers must not leave buses unattended in Lake Street, thus Leighton Buzzard drivers on changeover must remain with their bus until relieving driver arrives.

The Town Council will try and have someone in the area to assist passengers and deal with any problems. I have asked Mr.Ellam to call in at Lake Street for an hour on the Friday morning just to check that everything is running smoothly.

R.I.P. JC John Croxford

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I have just received a post regarding John’s death , which happened just a few weeks ago

On a personal note John saved my bacon on numerous occasions whilst being a Duty Manager by always being the most helpful person you could wish to have at your disposal

I am sure that Marion would appreciate any words of comfort at this time, so i  do have her email address for anyone who wishes to pass on any messages

Below is post sent by Marion Croxford

I obtained internet connection just this week and although you may already have been informed, John sadly died two weeks after his operation having suffered serious post operative trauma.

I cannot express how deeply I miss him, but I do have such wonderful memories of his love and care over 61 years – 53 of which we were married

Mobile ticketing

Welcome to a new way to get on board Arriva buses with a pilot scheme in Yorkshire and Kent & Medway.

You can now pre-purchase your Day Saver, Weekly Saver or 4-Weekly Saver bus ticket using your mobile phone. It’s quick, easy, hassle-free and you can save money too with 10% off  4-Weekly Savers!

Buy Online ImageConvenient
Buy your m-ticket when it suits you.  You could be sitting on the sofa or at your work desk.  There’s no need to nip to the cash point just to fund a bus trip.

Easy iconEasy
Once set up, it’s a doddle to buy from your mobile.

Fast iconFast
When others are fumbling for change, you simply show the driver your pre-purchased m-ticket on your mobile screen.

The m-ticket service itself is free – you only pay for your actual m-ticket.  And you can save 10% off 4-Weekly Savers when you use the m-ticket service.

Secure iconSecure
It’s totally secure.  Twice as safe as buying stuff over the internet thanks to anti-fraud measures, unbreakable data encryption and your own PIN.

How m-ticket works in 3 simple steps:

1)    Register online now at  Once registered, your ticket application will be sent – free of charge – to your phone.

2)    Select and purchase your ticket.  If you haven’t got a credit/debit card, or prefer to pay by cash – that’s fine – but you will need to add Arriva credit to your phone (‘Add-cash’ option within the m-ticket application) which you can easily do from your nearest PayPoint outlet or Arriva Travel shop.

3)    Use your ticket on the day and time of travel.  Your ticket will be displayed on your mobile phone screen – simply show it to your driver.  (Ticket is available from date of first use, not purchase.)

That’s it.  No hassle.  Easy as 123!
