A major event in Milton Keynes will take place on Saturday 10th December, nominally from 1230 until 1500 although disruption and road closures are expected from early morning until late afternoon.

The Championship winning Red Bull team and their drivers [Aston Clinton resident Webber and young Vettel] will regrettably be clogging up the streets of MK [speaking as a Button/McLaren fan] with their over-fast cars, using Midsummer Boulevard to drive up and down! Thus this road, between Grafton Gate and Saxon Gate, and surrounding side roads will be closed. However Avebury Boulevard will be open so the 100 and 150 will be clear to use that. No stops are affected for the 100 and 150 but serious congestion is expected and thus delays will occur.

Up to 10,000 people are expected and the possibility is that other roads may require closure on public safety grounds. I have given MK Council PTU the phone number of the DM’s office here in the garage and also in the Bus station so they can advise directly of any additional measures necessary that may affect our service

From 19:30 each night of Monday 5th & Tuesday 6th December, Old Stoke Road in Aylesbury will be closed for re-surfacing, affecting service 4.

Thus the 1930 & 1955 ex Bus station; and 1923 & 1943 ex Walton Court will need to divert in both directions via Friarage Road, Oxford Road and Churchill Avenue.

Thus Chestnut Crescent and Taylor Road will not be served – passengers for the former should use the 300 and still use the 4 for the latter, boarding/alighting at Church square stops

Princes Risborough High Street will be closed on Friday 2nd December from 1500 for the rest of the day and evening.

Thus service 300 will use New Road and observe the diversionary bus tops along that road in both directions.

The diversion will apply from the 1435 ex Aylesbury and 1431 ex High Wycombe onwards

Due to an Oxford “Xmas Event” there will be various road closures, parades, etc in Oxford City Centre on Friday 2ndDecember which will not only cause a diversion on Aylesbury-bound services 200 and 280 but which is predicted to cause traffic delays.

Queen Street will be closed whilst the procession passes along it – from Bonn Square, along Queen Street, into Carfax and then up Cornmarket. Whilst the procession is only expected to take about 20 minutes to block our route, closure ofBonn Square and Queen Street has been requested from 1800 until 2200 due to large numbers of pedestrians.

Thus during the closure of Bonn square and Queen Street, services 200 and 280 will need to use Castle Street, Old Greyfriars Street, Speedwell Street and St.Aldates., i.e. the reverse of the Oxford Rail Station-bound routeing. Presumably Carfax will also be blocked for a few minutes whilst the procession proceeds through, when all traffic will come to a temporary halt.

Luckily, none of our stops are affected so passengers won’t be displaced but may well not know this and will suffer delays anyway.

Thame Town Council have advised us that Thame High Street and Cornmarket will be closed this Friday, 2nd December from 12 noon until 21:00 the same evening, for a “Christmas event”.

Services 110, 200 and 280 will need to run as per the normal Thame Fair diversions, i.e. via Bell Lane, observing the stops at The Old Thatch and Thame Museum, as the normal main stops for Thame.

Services 120-124 will need to run via North Street and Bell Lane and pick up at the bus stop in North Street in lieu of Thame Town Hall [120, 123] and at the Old Thatch in lie of Thame Co-op [124].

High Wycombe’s 40 and 340 will need to drop off at the bus stop in North Street by the Police Station, circumnavigate the roundabout and layover and pick up at the bus stop in North Street.
