New Ticket machine information for Staff

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Please note that as next week is a “mixed” week in regards to school holiday duties [Monday & Tuesday 3rd & 4th] and schoolday duties [Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 5th, 6th & 7th] in order to simplify introduction of the new ticket machines they have only been programmed with schoolday duties.

Therefore any driver on Monday & Tuesday operating a school holiday duty, i.e. a duty in the 8** series, or 911 & 914 at Leighton Buzzard should enter the duty number on the ticket machine as it would be for a schoolday, i.e. with out the “8” [or 901/904 at LB].  Thus a driver on for example 831 duty would only enter a duty number of 31 on the ticket machine.

On a couple of duties this may cause a discrepancy where an additional journey or different service numbered journey is operated so on these odd journeys driver entered fares maybe necessary.

WITHDRAWAL OF ADDITIONAL CONCESIONARY FARE CONCESSIONS

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Please note that with effect from Monday 3rd September we will no longer accept Buckinghamshire OAP concessionary and disabled passes for travel before 0900 [except where specifically allowed under the formal agreements, such as blind people and noted on the pass] on the two journeys where this is currently allowed by Arriva the Shires within Bucks.

The two journeys concerned are the service 16 journey at 0840 from Steeple Claydon and service 60 at 0833 from Maids Moreton. On both these journeys, concessionary passes will only be accepted from 0900 onwards in line with all other services. Any passenger presenting a free travel pass before 0900 on these journeys should be politely informed it is no longer valid before 0900 as this is a concession that Arriva can no longer afford to grant as it falls outside of the period when we are re-imbursed for the free travel by the Local Authority scheme.

CLOSURE OF NARBETH DRIVE: SATURDAY 1 SEPTEMBER

Friday, August 24th, 2012

All,

Narbeth Drive in Aylesbury is to be closed on Saturday 1st September for “micro surfacing work” whatever that means!

Red Route 9 should divert via the entire length of Broughton Avenue in both directions during the closure and therefore Narbeth Drive and Barnsbury Avenue will be unserved.

Friday, August 24th, 2012

All,

Please note that from week beginning 3rd September a new bus stop will be sited by Herts CC in Waterhouse Street in Hemel Town Centre.

The stop, in a lay-by outside Lord Alexander House which is currently a taxi-rank, should be observed once sited, by all service 500 journeys in which ever direction.

CLOSURE OF TOWERSEY!

Friday, August 24th, 2012

Due to electrical connection works, Chinnor Road in Towersey will be closed for one day, Monday 3rdSeptember.

Therefore on this day service 40 and 120 will not be able to serve Towersey and should operate as per the routeing for non-Towersey journeys – drivers being careful that after the deviation they are not running early!

Service 123 should use the by-pass and Towersey Road/Thame Road to go as far as the junction with Windmill Lane, and reverse turn into Windmill Lane and then as normal.

PARALYMPIC TORCH RELAY

Friday, August 24th, 2012

The Paralympic Torch relay hits Aylesbury on Tuesday afternoon and evening, 28th August 2012.

Great Western Street beyond the Bus station exit towards Market Square and Walton Street between Market Square and Exchange Street / Friarage Road roundabout will be closed from 1600 for the rest of the day.

Service 2 and service 4 from Walton Court should operate normally to Station Boulevard and then straight across into Great Western Street and enter the Bus Station and go around to exit back into Great Western Street WITHOUT STOPPING TO PICK UP or SET DOWN PASSENGERS and then turn left into Friarage Road and ahead into Exchange Street, where buses should then pick up passengers and wait for departure time. Any buses on driver changeover [or drivers requiring a toilet break] should do so on the layover bays opposite bays 1 -3 in the Bus Station.

Other roads in Aylesbury town centre and out eastwards towards Stoke Mandeville will be closed on a needs basis to allow for the parade to pass through but there are no formal road closures and diversions. However Police may close roads and bus stops depending upon conditions and drivers must obey Police instructions as to road closures and the need to move off from bus stops if required.

For information, the Torch Parade is due to leave Stoke Mandeville Stadium/Hospital at 20;20 and travel via Mandeville Road and Walton Street and then circle the hub, passing through Exchange Street at 20:50 and then back along Walton Street to Wendover Road and then towards Aston Clinton.

ROAD CLOSURES IN MK: SUNDAY 26th AUGUST

Friday, August 24th, 2012

Due to Sky Ride, certain roads will be closed in Central Milton Keynes all day on Sunday 26th August. Service 150 will need to use Avebury Boulevard rather than Midsummer Boulevard coming from Elder Gate by continuing along Elder Gate past the front of the “Bus Station” then taking the next left into Avebury Boulevard and then straight ahead at the next 3 junctions towards the Shops until back onto normal route.

From the Shops turn left as usual into Secklow Gate but continue straight ahead to the roundabout with Portway and turn left onto Portway then straight ahead at next 3 roundabouts until re-joining normal route.
