Road closures next week
Buckinghamshire County Council has to close parts of Stoke Road and Old Stoke Road in Aylesbury on the weekend starting Friday 15 August to inspect and work on three bridges. It has been decided that doing all three at the same time and over a school holiday weekend will cause the least disruption.
The work is taking place on the B4443 on the temporary hump-backed railway bridge on Stoke Road between the gyratory and Stoke Mandeville. This will have to be lifted out , inspected and repaired, while the nearby footbridge will be inspected in situ.
Further along the road just out of Aylesbury there is another permanent footbridge over the railway which needs replacing as it is in a state of bad disrepair. This is follow up work to the emergency repairs undertaken earlier in the year.
These essential works will start at 8pm on Friday 15 August and end around noon on Sunday 17.
While the roads are closed there will be no access at all for cars and cycles, but there will be some access for pedestrians on the Stoke Road most of the time, apart for short periods when heavy lifting is taking place. There will be no pedestrian access while the Old Stoke Road is closed and diversion signs will be in place through Prebendal Avenue and Penn Road.
Diversions for cars and cycles will be in place via the A413 and the A418. You are advised to listen to travel bulletins on local radio stations for the latest news while the works take place.
