Ticket information

We try to keep things simple with our range of ticket deals, while at the same time offering a range of value-for-money options to suit our customers’ different needs.

Single tickets

For a one-way journey.
The cost the ticket depends where you get on and where you want to get off the bus. For details see the appropriate timetable page, try our frequently asked questions or contact us.
Simply buy from the driver as you get on the bus.
It helps the driver if you are able to offer the right change for your fare.
Children under 5 travel free.
There are usually discount prices for children over 5, but conditions vary by region. Contact us if you want to know more about child fares in your area.

Return tickets

These gives you two trips – one to go, one to come back again. You need to keep your ticket safe so that you can show it to the driver on the bus home – he will want to check the details and cancel the ticket.
Return fares are available on many services across the country and the cost of a return ticket is usually cheaper than buying two single tickets.
In some areas we offer Off-Peak Return fares, which offer an even greater level of discount if you travel at less busy times.

Children under 5 travel free.

Multi-Journey Saver tickets

These usually offer the best deal for regular travellers – that’s when you’re making several journeys during the day, or using the bus on several days in the week or 4-week period.

Many of our multi-journey Saver tickets are available at PayPoint outlets (also Payzone outlets in the Midlands and parts of the south of England). You can buy 4-Weekly Saver tickets online.

Season tickets

On some services we offer tickets for even longer periods, including annual tickets.
These offer tremendous savings for people who are travelling regularly, week in, week out.

Student Saver tickets

Concessionary travel

General Fare conditions

Adult fare anyone over the age of 16 years of age

Child fare anyone who has not reach their 16th birthday

In Hertfordshire you must hold a saver card to be entitle to child fares

In Buckinghamshire holders of the citizen card are entitle to a special fare of £1 single fare on journey’s which start or finish in Buckinghamshire after 0900

Concession fares are available to any holder of the National concession Card

these condition apply to these holders

Buckinghamshire holder valid from 0900 in Bucks and 0930 outside Bucks till 2300

Bedfordshire holder All day use within Bedfordshire 0930 in any other counties

Hertfordshire holder All day use within Hertfordshire 0930 in any other counties

Oxfordshire holder valid from 0900 in Oxfordshire and 0930 outside Oxfordshire till 2300

All other counties are valid from 0930-2300

Explorer ticket valid for one person for all routes except express routes and some London services

Concession/child rate available

Group explorer valid for any 4 persons travelling together anytime

Five for Fiver special available at certain promotion times valid for one to Five persons anytime

Up-date notice
This staff notice should offer
all drivers complete clarification
on the scheme, designed to
encourage people to use our buses between 19 July and 1 September 2009.

The scheme is being repeated due to it’s success last year.
Minimum requirement

Ticket must be purchased in Buckinghamshire, so, the bus must be
in the county of Buckinghamshire for the customer to be entitled
to buy a ticket. Once the ticket is purchased it can only be used on
journeys that start or finish in Bucks, therefore, it is not valid for
onward travel outside Buckinghamshire. The Five for a Fiver ticket
is valid for up to 2 adults travelling with up to 3 children.
Therefore, the following groups are eligible to buy the ticket…
• 1 adult
• 2 adults
• 1 adult with either 1, 2 or 3 children
• 2 adults with either 1, 2 or 3 children

The ticket is valid at any time of day and there is no time
restriction on when the ticket can be purchased or used.

To issue ticket select ‘stage 160’ as the destination then select
‘adult return’ – this will issue a £5 ticket.

AVDC Travel choice card/ticket

As from Sunday 4^th September 2009, employees of Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) will be allowed ½

Price travel. (As per same terms and conditions as Bucks County Council i.e. must produce Staff I D together with the Travel Choice Card).

All staff must produce a Staff card as well with this logo on it

Terms of travel

Saver tickets can be used on any Arriva the Shires and Essex buses or Green Line 724 coaches within the given zones, except certain contracted services or buses provided on behalf of Transport for London.
Saver tickets are not valid on Green Line services to and from London (that’s Green Line 712, 713, 757, 758 and 797). Please see our Green Line website for details of tickets on Green Line services to and from London.
Children under 5 travel free with Arriva. Child fares are available for children aged 5 to under 16
Family or Group tickets are for any four people travelling together.

Student Saver tickets in Shires and Essex

Great Value Tickets for Students

We are offering students discounted Arriva Zone Tickets, which can only be bought online and which cover convenient timescales of either 8 or 12 weeks. Arriva Zone Tickets are not valid on: Green Line services between London and Luton, Stevenage, St Albans or Hemel Hempstead, TfL services, or certain contract services.

Your NUS, ISIC, or University/College ID card and number will be needed to validate your ticket.
