BUS COLLISIONS

GREAT WESTERN STREET, AYLESBURY

Late Friday afternoon, 19 June 2009, another incident happened in Great Western Street as one of our buses was turning right into the Bus Station. As with previous incidents at this location, a car driver decided to overtake the bus just as the bus started its right hand turn. The car finished up embedded in the offside of the bus and a reinforced concrete support pillar. Luckily, yet again, there were no injuries.

The Arriva Management has recently been in discussions with Bucks County Council about this ongoing situation and the Council are currently trying to come up with a solution to the problem.

Any solution will not happen overnight.

In the meantime to try to prevent any further collisions of this kind I am requesting drivers, prior to starting your right hand turn into the Bus Station from Great Western Street:

· bring your bus to a halt;

· check that the offside lane is clear of any ‘Kamikaze’ drivers;

· and then proceed into the Bus Station.

Thank you for your co-operation while we’re working with the Council to put a solution in place.
