Commencing on Monday 23rd July, and scheduled to last “most of the summer holidays” there will be new high voltage cable being laid between Stone, Bugle Horn andColdharbour Way roundabout, Aylesbury. There will be temporary traffic lights in use along this stretch of road so delays can be expected.

However from 6th August, Church Road in Wheatley is to be closed for “re-construction and resurfacing” which is good news as long overdue, and the 280 will operate via London Road direct – more details nearer the time as the work has already been postponed several times since March so I’m not getting too carried away it will commence as stated!

On Friday night, 27th July, resurfacing of theBus Lane from Pearson Close toChurchill Avenue will take place from 19:00. Thus service 280 towards Aylesbury Bus Station should useOxford Road and not the bus only short-cut, thereby missing out the stop at Pearson Close.

As from Monday 16 July 2012 until Friday 20th July 2012 service 61 will need to divert via Dallow Road & Kingsway from 21:00 until 05:00 hours.

The journey that affects Aylesbury is the 21:20 from Luton Airport

  • July 16, 2012 /  Uncategorized

The road over Ivinghoe Beacon will be closed for 3 nights, from 19:00 to 06:00, to allow the road to be resurfaced. The closure on the B489 will be from Beacon Road through to the roundabouts at the “Traveller Rest”.

The closures are on Thursday 19 July 1900 to 0600 on Friday 20; Friday 20th at 1900 until 0600 on Saturday 21st and from 1900 on Monday 23rd until 060 on Tuesday 24th.

The closure will affect the 0520 ex Aylesbury [although as this is close to 0600 the road will probably be open], the 1940 ex Aylesbury; the 1900 ex Luton Airport and the 2120 ex Luton Airport.

Diversion route from aylesbury direction via B489 as normal to just before the top of the beacon then right into Beacon Road, left onto the B4506, Ringshall Road, through Ringshall to the roundabout at Dagnall and left onto the A4146 to the Travellers Rest and then as normal. The reverse of this for journeys from Luton Airport.

Due to trees, no double deckers to be used.

On Wednesday 18th July from 13:00 until 14:00, Aylesbury High Street will be closed on the section between the Exchange Street/High Street and Britannia Street, due to local school children holding a “Handling the Flame” Olympic Parade.

Thus buses on services 2, 4, 16, 60 and 61 will have to divert during this time via Vale Park Drive and Upper Hundreds Way to rejoin normal route at New Street or Cambridge Street.

Drivers on service 4 are advised to stop in Exchange Street and inform passengers the bus will not be going via the High Street and the next stop will be in Cambridge Street.
