From Monday 6th August for approximately 4 weeks, Church Road in Wheatley will be closed for re-construction and re-surfacing, so service 280 will be required to divert.

The diversion will be direct via London Road, between the Kings Arms and Park Hill mini-roundabout, omitting the bus stops in Church Road.

Temporary stops will be sited in London Road in the vicinity of the Kings Arms, St.Mary’s Close and Park Hill roundabout. Should any of these temporary stops “disappear” then drivers should continue to observe them, if required, at their original site!

As the diversion route is shorter than the normal route, drivers should check they are not running early when departing Wheatley area at quiet times.

New bus stops have been sited by Central Bedfordshire council following public requests and consultation with the Police, at the “Flying Fox” roundabout at the junction of Heath Road and the A5 and should be observed when requested with immediate effect.

There are also new bus stops sited in West Street in Leighton Buzzard – eastbound opposite the entrance to the public car park [not the supermarket car park]  and westbound outside the British Legion. No bus services pass these stops except when Leighton Buzzard High Street is closed and then all passing diverted services should use these bus stops as a substitute for the High Street stops – a similar arrangement to that which we have had for sometime with service 300 in Princes Risborough High Street.

There is to be a parade within Central Milton Keynes on Saturday 11th August from 1200 until 1600 when various roads will be closed for a period of time whilst the parade passes.

Precise details are not disclosed and arrangements appear a bit “ad hoc” but it will follow the route of the 100 and 150 services at times but no stops are affected.

Saxon Gate and Avebury Boulevard will be closed for a time and Silbury Boulevard as well but at a differing time. Thus diversionary arrangements are not really possible but drivers can either wait until roads open or divert via appropriate open roads, as long as the stop at MK Shops is still served!
